[Green Energy][Cross-strait Cooperation] Cross-strait Forum on Wind Power Development to Take Place in September (Chinese Version)

CNA (2011/08/22) The industrial standard of vertical axis wind turbines has been under discussion between the sides of the strait. A cross-strait forum on the development opportunities of the wind turbines is about to take place on September 5, which will focus on the topics of the technological cooperation and common standards.

Taiwan Small & Medium Wind Turbine Association points out, several MOU's on cross-strait technological cooperation on wind turbines have been signed between the association and two organizations in China, namely, Chinese Wind Energy Association (CWEA) and China Association of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers (CAAMM) in 2010. According to the consensuses, an advanced platform for information exchanges and cooperation is going to be set up, and now the common standards of vertical axis wind turbines that aims to meet the international standards as well as to highlight the regional specialties, have begun to be established.

The association also points out, China is the third largest market of the small wind turbines in the world. According to the CAAMM statistics, the 38 major small turbine manufacturers in China have been produced 135,000 turbines (gov 6.2 billion NT dollars) in 2010. In the same year, four major manufacturers of small wind turbines for the wind-PV hybrid streetlight have produced over 45000 sets.
